Dottie Pearl Hanshaw, age 85, of Dellroy, Ohio, died Tuesday night, September 1, 2026, in The Inn at Northwood Village at Dover surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 20, 1941, in Clay, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ivy (Fitzwater) Williams. Her husband, Robert Paul Hanshaw, whom she married August 15, 1958, passed away on October 3, 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, Marie Greathouse, Ruth Greathouse, Agnes Ferebee, Christine Rasile, Alice Williams, Jean Payne, Mary Lou Jarrell, and Sandra Nichols and a brother Walter “Red” Williams.
Dottie was primarily a mother and a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Dellroy Church of the Nazarene. For many years, she enjoyed camping with her family at Berlin Lake. In her free time, she was fond of reading and working puzzles. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Sherri) Hanshaw of Canton, OH, and Jeffrey Lynn Hanshaw of Dellroy, a daughter, Karen Imes of Dellroy, four grandsons, Anthony Imes of New York City, Stephen Imes of Dellroy, Thomas Imes of Louisville, OH, and Chris Imes of Cadiz, OH, three great-granddaughters, Nahla Imes, Nakkarii Imes and Naylanii Imes, and a great-grandson, Jaden Smith, two sisters and a brother, Avis Legg, Catherine Knotts, and Bobby Williams, all of Clay, West Virginia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 5, 2026, in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens with her cousin Earl Elliot officiating. Interment will follow services.
