During the latest Uhrichsville council meeting discussion included the landlord legal matter wrapping up and the sale of the former service garage coming to a close.
The sale of the garage, at the corner of E. 2nd and N. Main, is expected to close September 4th. Street Supervisor Steve Patterson said things have been going well with the move to their new location on at Romig and Trenton Avenue.
“For the salt bin and gas tanks, everything’s been ordered. It is underway. They’ll be in touch with me to give me some dates because they had to order all the materials and everything.”
During Law Director Jeff Merklin’s report, he noted continued research on developing legislation regarding electronic bikes and scooters.
“Came up with four or five different ideas. Met with the chief. It also has some parental culpability in it too.”
Elsewhere, Mayor Jim Zucal announced that council president Buck Cottrell is stepping aside to be the mayor’s appointee to the Twin City Water and Sewer District Board.
“I was approached by council president Buck Cottrell. He’ll bring a lot to that board. I hate to lose him as a council president.”
Council members also agreed to pay the legal fees in a case where the city had to reimburse the landlords registration fees collected over several years. With the case over, the city must now pay legal fees and other court costs amounting to over $34,000.
