The staff at Schoenbrunn Village are inviting visitors to experience Ohio’s first Christian settlement after dark during Fall Lantern Tours this weekend.
The guided tours will take place Friday and Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the reconstructed 18th-century Moravian village on East High Avenue in New Philadelphia. Visitors will have the chance to see the historic site illuminated by lantern light while learning about daily life 250 years ago.
Gabby Bricker says the tours offer a unique look at the settlement and its history and gives guests a rare opportunity to experience the village in a different way than traditional daytime visits.
The event will feature demonstrations including candle dipping, woodworking, butter churning, and quill writing. Members of the 13th Virginia Infantry Company Civil War reenactment group will also be on hand to help connect Schoenbrunn Village’s story to Fort Laurens and the American Revolution.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children ages 7 to 17. Children 6 and younger are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased online through the Ohio History Connection store or at the gate.
