A Harrison County man will spend time in prison after fatally shooting a New Philadelphia man last year.
Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson announced that 63-year-old Mickey Green, of Tippecanoe, was sentenced to 24 years following his September 3rd conviction in Harrison County Common Pleas Court.
The April 5, 2025 shooting happened near Green’s property, at the intersection of Norris Road and Moravian Trail Road. 50-year-old Steven Andrews was driving a tanker truck through the intersection when Green yelled at him for driving on the edge of the lawn.
Andrews stopped and got out. Upon approach, Green drew a handgun and shot the unarmed Andrews in the head. During the three-day trial Green claimed he acted in self-defense.
Green was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count each of felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. The conviction also requires Green to register as a violent offender.
