Amy Jo Seevers Ellwood, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away on October 2, 2026, after a courageous third battle with cervical cancer. She faced it the way she faced everything in life, with grit, faith, and a sharp sense of humor.

Born on December 28, 1962, in Dennison, Ohio, Amy was a 1981 graduate of Indian Valley South, where she went on to earn her cosmetology certification at Buckeye Career Center. She later owned the Lamplighter alongside her son Josh. Lastly in life she poured her heart into cooking at TJ’s, where visiting with customers, family and friends was every bit as important as the food she served. And she could serve. Feeding the people she loved was one of her great joys, right alongside helping her community whenever times got hard.

Amy was witty, a people pleaser, a devoted community servant, and above all a sister, a Mom, a Mamaw, a friend, and a child of God. She lived by a few simple rules: be a good person, love your family and neighbors, and remember that “if you’re not early, you’re late.” She was always early, never late, unless, as she liked to say, she trusted a fart. She never did trust one, and she advised everyone else not to either.

She loved concerts, a good trip to the casino, and the thrill of a penny deal at the Dollar General. Most of all, she loved the beach, with her feet in the water and her backside planted “firmly” in the sand.

Amy is survived by her daughters, Jessica (Todd) Dean and Jennifer (William) Bales; her sons, Joshua (Julie) Armstrong and Jacob (Miranda) Armstrong; her brother, Darrell (Roxene) Seevers; her sisters, Lori Seevers and Tami Seevers Keffer; and her cherished grandchildren, Arianna Jo, Ariston Everett, Axton Rylor, Savannah Marie, Mila Mae, Aliza Lynne and Abigaile Lynn. Also her long time friend Jacquie Price and her husband Mark Ellwood.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Stull Seevers, her father, James Seevers, her brother, Doug Seevers, and her sister/bestfriend, Lisa Hindman.

A woman of deep and steady faith, Amy trusted in the Lord and now rests in His care, reunited with those who went before her. Those who knew her are asked to honor her memory in the way she would have wanted: be a good person, love your family and your neighbors, and always show up early.
