A large coordinated effort on Sunday occurred in Carroll County after an individual became caught in the auger system at the top of a silo.
According to a post from the Carrolton Fire Department, this was at a Rose Township farm with a Carroll County Sheriff deputy arriving first on scene, who ascended the silo and applied a tourniquet.
Mutual aid was coordinated with Mohawk Valley Joint Fire District, the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department, Quad Ambulance District, Great Trail Fire District, and MedEvac. Also assisting, for rigging and ropes, was the Canton Fire Department Technical Rescue Team.
Carrolton Fire says all teams worked in conjunction to get the person free from the silo, bandaged, and lowered to more EMS on the ground. At this point, weather conditions changed and the helicopter was unable to land, so the individual was transported to Akron.
Dispatch helped coordinate law enforcement rendezvous points to escort the ambulance to the trauma center.
The condition of the person injured was unknown.
