History Comes Alive with Display on Lincoln Assassination at Dover Public Library
October 12 - October 31
One of the saddest days in American history is the subject of a stunning display at Dover Public Library during the month of October. The items are a part of the collection of Civil War artifacts of Tuscarawas County Resident Richard West. Mr. West has a unique connection to the Civil War as he is a relative of the last living Civil War Veteran in our county and with this display, patrons will be able to learn more about that dark day in April 1865 when our 16th President was assassinated at Ford’s Theater. “There are some really interesting pieces,” says Display PR Coordinator Steven Shroyer, “Mr. West’s display is a perfect way to learn about an important piece of American History, especially with America 250 still going on. Having personally been to Ford’s Theater, I can definitely say this display is the best way for our community to get that experience without having to travel.” If you have a collection to share with the community, contact our curator Todd Trimble or contact our library. We are located at 525 North Walnut St in Dover Ohio and can be reached at 330-343-6123 or at doverlibrary.org
