The Ohio department of transportation has closed the Barnhill Road bridge over U.S. Route 250 in Midvale a month after a commercial vehicle hauling heavy equipment struck it.
ODOT District 11 public information officer Lauren Borell says earlier Tuesday, inspectors discovered cracking on a damaged beam, prompting the immediate closure of the bridge.
The bridge is still safe to drive under, and 250 remains open without restrictions.
Back on September 15th, a vehicle hauling heavy equipment that exceeded the maximum height allowance struck the overhead bridge. Borell says ODOT inspectors have been monitoring the bridge since then before finding the additional damage Tuesday.
ODOT officials do not yet know when repairs will be completed.
