A public comment period is open regarding a 2029 bridge replacement on State Route 800.
Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says the $3.5 million project is over the Stillwater Creek, just south of the State Route 258 intersection in Stillwater.
Borell says they are accepting comments through November 8th.
“With this project we will need to detour traffic for this replacement and as with all of these comments that we have part of our public process is to solicit the public for comments that way we can include them in our project planning. This commenting period is an opportunity for folks from the public to come forward with any concerns that they may have regarding this project and we have an opportunity to respond to those and explain what the process is and why we consider doing A, B, and C on a project.”
Borell notes part of the comment period is ways ODOT looks at how projects may cause impacts.
“And with this one, it does mention it will impact waters of the US, which means that’s going to impact the Stillwater Creek. We look at ways we can protect the environment while working on these projects and want to public to be aware of what these impacts may be.”
Other listed points is the requirement of a minor amount of new right-of-way, involves work in a FEMA floodplain, and will result in minor impacts to suitable wooded bat habitat.
Borell adds that the bridge replacement will require a minor amount of new right-of-way, will impact the Stillwater Creek, and will result in minor impacts to suitable wooded bat habitat. More details can be found at transportation.ohio.gov/travel/projects and enter the project ID number 121088.
