An event that aims to keep old or unused medications out of homes, away from children, and out of the water supply returns this weekend.
Tuscarawas County residents can safely dispose of unwanted medications during the national Drug Take Back collection Saturday, October 24th from 10 to 2 at both county hospitals. The event is a partnership between the Sheriff’s Office, Empower Tusc, and the hospitals.
Empower Tusc Media Chair Robert Bray says drop‑offs will be accepted at the south entrance of Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover and the main entrance of UPMC Twin City in Dennison.
Sheriff’s deputies will be on site, and no names or IDs are required. Medications should be placed in a clear plastic bag. Pills in prescription bottles may have the patient’s name blacked out.
Officials will not accept needles, liquids, or peroxide‑based medications at (Saturday’s) Drug Take Back Day collections.
