New Philadelphia firefighters were called around 4:11 p.m. on Sunday to the 400 block of Front Avenue SE after a vehicle crashed into a home at 4th and Front.
Fire Captain Matthew Graham says crews arrived to find a small SUV up on the front porch, knocking out all the support posts and damaging the front wall of the house.
One person remained in the vehicle; the passenger had already gotten out. Firefighters stabilized the porch roof with rescue jacks and cribbing before helping the driver out and turning the patient over for transport. Graham could not comment on the extent of the injuries.
The residents were home but not in the area where the SUV struck. No one inside was hurt, though Graham says there was moderate interior damage.
A restoration company secured the front of the house, and the family is able to stay there. Damage is estimated at about $15,000. The cause of the crash is under investigation by New Philadelphia Police.
