Ryan Styer will retain his position as judge for the Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court.
Styer has been in the position after being appointed in February following the former judge’s retirement.
“I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude at this point. Grateful for the voters to recognize the good work that I’ve done and that I’m doing.”
Styer notes that since he’s been in the position since February, he’s been able to transition from being a county prosecutor to judge.
“I felt like I hit the ground running kind of knowing the territory. It wasn’t long before I was fully caught up on the docket and for the first two to three months, I was low on my felony case load because I had a lot of conflicts but at this point that’s all kind of leveled out.”
In the unofficial results, Styer gained roughly 7,000 more countywide votes. Styer acknowledges his opponent, Magistrate Christine Weimer.
