Helen Hostetler Ridgway, 99, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Park Village in Dover following a short period of declining health. She was born in Sugarcreek on July 13, 1922 to the late Leo and Jenny Iola (Miller) Lingler and married Forrest L. Hostetler on January 2, 1941. He died on September 8, 1985. She was married on December 5, 1992 to Alva “Hap” Ridgway. He died on October 11, 2013. She is a member of Union Hill United Methodist in Sugarcreek. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Patricia Freeman of Walnut Creek, Joyce (James) Beechy of Millersburg, and Judy Swartzentruber of Walnut Creek; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her sister Gladys Schrock of Michigan. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she is preceded in death by her son Richard Hostetler and her brothers, Clyde and Paul Lingler. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11 AM at Union Hill Cemetery with Pastor Eric Schrock officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
