Accident Closes Interstate 77 Northbound

Part of Interstate 77 Northbound was closed for about an hour due to a Friday accident.

The affected area was between New Philadelphia and Dover, in Dover Township. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post Trooper Maddox, the accident occurred, at 2:10pm, when a southbound vehicle missed their exit and decided to make a U-turn in a prohibited section in the median.

When coming back into northbound traffic, the vehicle hit another.

There were minor injuries and the roadway was backed up due to the interstate being down to one lane.
