Over 85,000 white-tailed deer were checked over Ohio’s week-long gun season. The total is down by 1,744 compared to 2024’s totals.
The Division of Wildlife of the Ohio Department Natural Resources says Coshocton County led the state with 3,037 followed by Ashtabula and then Tuscarawas.
Legal hunting equipment during the deer gun season includes shotguns, straight-walled cartridge rifles, muzzleloaders, handguns, and archery equipment.
Hunters will have another chance to take a deer with a firearm during an additional two-day weekend, December 20th and 21st. As a reminder, anyone participating must wear blaze orange.
Meanwhile, muzzleloader season is coming up January 3rd through the 6th. Archery season continues until February.
