The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post is investigating a fatal US 36 crash.

A caller notified dispatch of the possible Monday accident and troopers were on scene by 11:30am.

An investigation determined the 2004 GMC Sierra was westbound on 36 when it crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the road. The pickup truck continued down an embankment and struck several trees.

The driver, 20-year-old Zachary Williams, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The patrol says alcohol is a suspected factor, and Williams was not wearing a seatbelt.

Additionally, OSP notes that Williams and the vehicle match a missing person’s report filed on Sunday by the Newcomerstown Police Department.
