Alice Jane Douglass Swinderman of Newcomerstown went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, Newcomerstown. She was born March 8, 1932, in Plainfield to the late Joseph and Althea (Mackley) Griffith. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended the Nazarene Church of Newcomerstown.
She married Robert Douglass in 1949 and he passed away in 1980. She then married Samuel Swinderman in 1982 and he passed away in 2017.
She is survived by her children, Judy (James) Francisco of Albany, Kenneth (Cathy) Douglass of Newcomerstown, Steven Ray (Pamela) Douglass of New Philadelphia, Michael E. Douglass of Newcomerstown, Kathy (Richard) McIntire of Newcomerstown; step-daughter, Susan (Dan) Fletcher of Butler, PA; grandchildren, Michelle Grubbs, Cristie Scharer, Ryan Douglass, Jacob McMasters, Jason Douglass, Katlin Tucker, Tayler Douglass, Daniel Crawford, Chad Crawford, Colin Crawford, Marlayna McIntire, and Evan McIntire; five great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; and Grandmother to many children. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Kim Robert Douglass; three sisters; and seven brothers.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11 am at Churches of Christ in Christian Union, Newcomerstown with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am prior to the service at the church.
