Alice M. Davis, 99, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully, in her home, on August 24, 2024, in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Born on May 10, 1925, in Archbald, Pennsylvania, Alice was the daughter of the late Camillo and Raffaela (Coccia) DeAngelis and after graduating from high school, Alice pursued further education at Lackawanna College in Pennsylvania, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and community. During World War II, she made her mark working for the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC, demonstrating her commitment not just to her country but also to her fellow citizens.

It was during this time that she met and fell in love with Thomas A. “TA” Davis, a young Marine serving aboard the battleship USS New York during WWII. They married on July 2, 1945, and shared over 55 years of marriage until his passing in October 2000.

Alice cherished her roles as a devoted wife and mother, finding immeasurable happiness in nurturing her family and creating a loving home. While Alice’s professional accomplishments were significant, it was her commitment to her family that truly defined her. As a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia, she found purpose and fulfillment in her faith, participating actively in the church Altar Society and fostering a spirit of fellowship among her fellow parishioners.

Her career culminated in many fulfilling years as Cafeteria Manager at New Philadelphia High School. Alice often reflected, with a warm smile, that the best part of her job was the joy of being surrounded by the kids. Her infectious smile and compassionate nature turned the cafeteria into a haven where every student felt welcomed and cared for.

Surviving are her four children, Leah (Dan) Rhinehart of Stow, Tom (PJ) Davis of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Rich (Mary) Davis of Gisborne, New Zealand and Chuck Davis of New Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Kim Stone and Robin Davis and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Alice was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Davis; two sisters and a brother.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

The family requests that memorial contributions, in Alice’s memory, be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
