Starting on Monday, September 14th an intersection north of Strasburg became an all-way stop.
Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says this is at the Tuscarawas/Stark county line.
“The intersection of State Route 21 and State Route 212 which is located just north of Strasburg, and that will be converted to an all-way stop.”
Borell notes that this change will be permanent over the next few years until another project occurs at the intersection thanks to grant funding.
“This is an intersection that’s been on our radar with the crash data and the amount of traffic going through there. One way we are going to improve it in the future is to install a roundabout, which we were awarded funding for, but in the interim, we are going to convert the intersection to an all-way stop to increase safety there.”
The roundabout is expected to be constructed in 2031 thanks to $3.2 million in funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program.
All approaches of the intersection are equipped with dual Stop Ahead warning signs, dual stop signs, and overhead flashers.
