New legislation that will require all federal purchased American flags to be made exclusively in America has Ohio roots.

Ohio democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and republican U.S. senator Susan Collins of main co-sponsored the bill known as the all-American flag act.

Brown says for years the requirement was that government flags only had to be made 50-percent out of American-made materials, so this will correct that.

“No reason this shouldn’t have passed before. We finally got it through congress and it’s one of my proudest accomplishments cause it’s symbolic, but it’s more than that its jobs.”

The bill passed the senate last November, but the house just approved it last week.  It now heads to President Biden’s desk for his signature.
