For the second time this year an Ohio governor candidate will visit Tuscarawas County.
Democrat Amy Acton will be at Tuscora Park on Saturday. She is the second Ohio governor candidate to visit Tuscarawas County. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy was here back in March, speaking at the local Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner.
Acton will be the guest of the Tuscarawas County Democratic Party Picnic at the Park from 3 to 5 p.m.
Acton announced in January she will run for governor in 2026. She was a prominent figure during the pandemic after Governor Mike DeWine appointed her the director of the Ohio Department of Health in 2019. She resigned in June of 2020 as she and legislators differed on the state’s COVID-19 response.
The Democratic Party Picnic on Saturday will have food, prizes and free ride tickets. Other Democratic candidates and leaders will speak during the event that is from noon to 5 p.m.
