Nick McWilliams reporting – More than a dozen Tuscarawas County children had a memorable Christmas, thanks to the efforts of the local law enforcement lodge.

Fraternal Order of Police Tuscora Lodge No. 4 took part in the annual Christmas with a Cop event, distributing toys and cash for holiday meals.

In total, 30 local children received a visit from the cop caravan, which stopped at each home to bring gifts provided through the monetary donations of the community.

In addition, nine families received gift cards for local grocery stores to give them a leg up on holiday food shopping.

According to a release from Lodge President Bob Everett, nearly $9,500 was used in the 2022 holiday period.

Everett expressed thanks to the community and school teachers, who assisted in identifying families in need during the Christmas season.

New Philadelphia Police Officer Chad Dorsey served as the chair for the event again this year.
