Kent State Tuscarawas is preparing for the 43rd annual Engineering Expo coming up February 18th.

It’s in recognition of National Engineers Week and a way to highlight local manufactures.

Engineering Program Director Paul Dykshoorn says one component of the event is the high school bridge building competition.

“Kids build them but we break them. We’ll probably break around 300 bridges on Wednesday night, and about 100 high school students will participate in that.”

The expo will be at the Performing Arts Center at Kent Tusc. The upper floor will have representatives from engineering, management, personnel, and hum resources available.

“Talk about job. Talk about careers. Local jobs, local careers. What pay they could expect. What qualifications they would need. It’s a great opportunity for people in the community to come out and see what’s going on, and also if somebody wants to maybe look for a different position, this is an opportunity for them to do that as well.”

Residents can enjoy the free expo and bridge competition from 5 to 7:30pm. Find more details at kent.edu/tusc.
