The United Way of Tuscarawas County’s 82nd annual fundraising campaign is ramping up.

President Sarah Spies says they’ll soon start sending solicitors out to approach businesses about giving through payroll deduction options while explaining the benefits of the campaign itself, such as how it raised 770-thousand dollars last year, to support 12 partner agencies, about 19 programs, impacting 10s of thousands of residents in Tuscarawas count.

Spies says the campaign already has about 300-thousand dollars raised since the start of the fiscal year through grants and other contributions and fundraising events over the past month or so.

Spies says she has confidence in her first campaign after taking over as president during the summer, with guidance from united way director of community engagement Susan Reidenbach and retired president robin waltz.

“It really has been a team effort here I think. Very collaborative. I feel like we’re well supported here.”

Spies says the campaign goal is to match the 770 thousand dollars raised last year, if not exceed it.
