Anola Mae Ramsey, 85, of Dennison, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health. Born July 15, 1938, in Dennison, Anola was a daughter of the late Robert Marshall and Julia Rose (Wenger) Stocker.
After her 1956 graduation from Dennison High School, on January 5, 1957, Anola married the love of her life – Donald Junior Ramsey – with whom she celebrated fifty years of loving marriage before his passing on December 18, 2007. She then accompanied him to the various areas of our country where he was stationed while he served in the U.S. Navy. They are survived by their daughters, Karen (Randy) Burke, Linda (Robert) Miles, and Patti Ramsey; grandchildren, Carrie (Paul) Weekly, April Miles, and Kyle (Janelle) Barker; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Miles, Ryian Phillips, Ethan, Marshall, and Warren Barker, and Sierra Christ. Anola is also survived by her brother, Robert Stocker, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Miles, and her sisters, Rena Patterson and Rose Ann Browning.
Following their return to the area in 1974, Anola worked for many years at Conley’s department store where she had been the office manager. She will also be remembered by many from the years that she worked at Twin City Pharmacy in Dennison. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and most recently, of Grace United Methodist Church. Anola and Don loved traveling together throughout their marriage, and Anola also loved spending time caring for her yard – something that she did until recent health challenges prevented her.
According to Anola’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public service, and her family will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
