Council in the City of Uhrichsville gave majority approval for the contract to sell the city service garage property.

Larry Wood put a bid in and council was reviewing the contract.

Law Director Jeff Merklin wanted a catch all acknowledgment phrase regarding any potential environmental issue but Wood wanted it taken out.

Prior to a vote, councilman Bob Baker questioned Merklin on the need for that sentence and if the city could be liable if an issue was found in the future.

“Even with that language in it’s possible. You just don’t know with these things. I put every environmental law in here.”

Council did pass the contract with Baker having the single negative vote.

Meanwhile, the law director completed a title search for the lot at the corner of S. Romig Street and Trenton Avenue, which the city is interested in leasing for city service operations.
