Anthony “Tony” Robert  Basiletti, 51, of Newcomerstown passed away Sunday July 16, 2023, at Community Hospice Truman House following a long period of declining health.

Born on February 7, 1972, at Union Hospital in Dover, he was the son of the late Carol and Denny Huston,

He was a man of many talents; but was first a son, brother, uncle, and a friend. He had the most wild and crazy, ride or die spirit that we all knew and loved. He meant so much to many people being their supporter and even though was the most inappropriate, yet sweetest, he was the love that was always there when you needed it… and even when you didn’t. He graduated from Indian Valley High School and held many careers including a bus driver for many years in New Philadelphia and Indian Valley school districts, an EMT, and a dispatcher at many places such as Stewartstown, United and Smith Ambulance Services, Red Lion Area Ambulance, Yoe Fire Co., MedFlight, Midvale and NERS Fire Departments. He was also a flight attendant at Delta, Republic, and Southwest Airlines in addition to being a care center technician at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Newark, and most recently was an Emergency Department Technician at Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge.

Tony was the entertainment for Newcomerstown BINGO and loved working with Heather and Susie at the Silkworm Flower Shop. Anyone that knew him, knew his love for his family. Since his mother’s passing last year “The Sister” Amy Everhart and Lynn Dessecker never left his side. He was finally reunited with his loving mother Carol Huston, father Denny Huston, Matt Edwards and his beloved dog Chewy along with many loved relatives and friends.

Tony is survived by his sisters Lynn Dessecker of New Philadelphia and Amy (Mark) Everhart of Gnadenhutten; nieces and nephews Brandon (Brittany) Dessecker, Riley (Chase) Cyr, Raegan, Reece, and Roman Wires; great nephew and niece Thane Dessecker and Renley Cyr; and many friends.

Services for Tony will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Hoover officiating at the Smith-Varns Funeral Home located at 115 Andreas Drive Sugarcreek, OH 44681.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Philadelphia.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm.

Memorial contributions in Tony’s memory may be made to Community Hospice at 716 Commercial Avenue SW in New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
