Time is running out for income-eligible parents to get their kids in the dress-a-child program for school clothes ahead of the fall.

Tuesday, July 14th is the deadline to return applications to either the Dover Public Library or the Tuscarawas County Public Library in New Philadelphia. Applications are still available at those two sites.

Dress-a-Child Treasurer Becky Mastin says many applications have already been submitted. Reviews will be conducted on Wednesday and the gift cards for Kohl’s will then go out to approved families about 10 days after that.

“The value of the gift card is simple math. We get x number of donations in and we divide that by the number of children who qualified for the program.”

Mastin says the program served more than 2,800 kids in Tuscarawas County, which has grown a lot since the programs founding.

“When we started in 1970, we served 95 children.”

Mastin says donations are accepted year-round. She says checks addressed to dress-a-child can be mailed to 1210 Winkler Drive in Dover.
