Mary Alice Reporting –

In two separate incidents from the Strasburg Police Department, narcotics were seized, and an individual is under arrest following a pursuit.

On Friday, according to Police Chief David Warrick, Officer Wood was called to the outside area of a business to check on two individuals.

One, who was acting lethargic admitted to have been using narcotics and alleged that he had more narcotics in his possession.

“It was in a backpack that the male had at the time. We suspect that a female that was around the scene attempted to hide the backpack after the officer first put it on his vehicle by throwing it into an adjacent vehicle. Officer Wood had recovered about 160 grams of substances altogether and 155 grams consisted mainly of what we suspect is methamphetamine.”

The narcotics were packaged individually with possible fentanyl also seized and a small amount of marijuana. One individual was transported and arrested on an un-related charge. BCI will test the substances.

In addition, on Saturday, Chief Warrick notes that Officer Wood observed a white sedan pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in an area on South Wooster Avenue. Officer Wood and Officer Bailey pursued the vehicle, which ultimately was stopped in the Stark County area.

“Actually passed the car in front if it using the center turn lane. Other agencies involved successfully completed a moving roadblock.”

Speeds reached upwards of 80mph at times. Officers located approximately eight grams of suspected narcotics which will be submitted to BCI for testing.
