Mary Alice Reporting – A multi-purpose facility in Newcomerstown has been around for five years and has received a nod from government officials.

Tuscarawas Arts partnership also recognized the veteran-led, non-profit for the work and the impact the center continues to make in the area.

At Monday’s meeting, the Tuscarawas County Commissioner passed the recognition as read by Commissioner Kerry Metzger.

“Is an inspiration to Tuscarawas County. It brings the community together in more ways than one. The arts center continues to evolve by way of bringing more individuals and organizations together by offering a place for community events, fellowship, art galleries, plays, and also serves as a warm inviting community center.”

Founder Michael Wise says to get this acknowledgment means a lot and notes that it feels good to have this work recognized.

“I don’t have the words for and I just knew that Newcomerstown needs something like this. It’s many things. It’s a community center, it’s an art center, it’s a place for kids to mingle and do their homework.”

The local community can get involved or find more details on events they host by finding the organization on their ARTSNCT Facebook page.

The next event, for youth in grades Kindergarten through 12th, is this Saturday, where participants will make a working clock. The event is from 10 am to noon.
