Nick McWilliams reporting – Residents in need of help with water bills might be eligible for a local program.

The Ohio Department of Development and HARCATUS Tri-County Community Action are providing help with water and wastewater bills.

The deadline to apply for the initial round of funding is September 30th.

Applications must be handled by the HARCATUS office in the county a resident lives in.

Documents required include the most recent water bill, proof of income for all dwellers in a home for the last 30 days or 12 months for each member, proof of U.S. citizenship, and proof of disability if required.

The limit for the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program is $1,500 per client for combined wastewater and drinking water utilities, or $750 each for separate utilities.

To be eligible, residents must be at or below 175-percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline, have been disconnected or have a disconnect notice, or needing assistance with establishing a new service hookup or paying for a transfer.
