Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Carroll County Foundation and an anonymous donor have given a stair-climbing evacuation chair to Aultman Carrollton.

The chair will help patients who use aids such as canes, crutches, walkers, scooters, or wheelchairs to leave the build in case of an emergency. The chair will prove especially useful for patients on the ground floor, where therapy services and the fitness center are located.

Assistant Manager at Aultman Carrollton Therapy Christine Grossi said in the case of a power outage or elevator issues, patient would have to climb up 22 steps to leave the building.

The Evac+Chair Power 800 could reduce evacuation time by up to 30 minutes.
