Barbara a. Troyer, age 90, of Dover, Ohio, died Monday evening, July 3, 2023, in The Inn at Northwood Village where she had been a resident for the past three years.

She was born January 13, 1933, in Dundee, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Abe a. and Verba D.  (Yoder) Yoder, Sr. Her husband, Abe a. Troyer, Jr. whom she married June 4, 1953, passed away on March 28, 2012. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Daniel a. Troyer, a daughter, Miriam a. Troyer, a sister, Mary Schlabach, and three brothers Alvin Yoder, Dan Yoder, and Noah Yoder.

She retired in 1995 as a cook for the former Der Dutchman Restaurant in Bolivar. She was also employed at the former Village Dutchman Restaurant in Dalton and the Northern Tier Children’s Home in Pennsylvania.  She also performed Foot Reflexology for a large clientele in Dalton for many years. She attended the Dover First Christian Church.  Barbara was always fond of tending to her flowers and her vegetable gardens.  She liked to dabble in painting with oil paints and also spent many hours sewing.  Barbara was also a talented cook and baker. But, primarily, caring for her family was always her first priority. 

She is survived by her children Leon (Jean) Troyer of Long Boat Key, FL, David a. Troyer of Dover, Mrs.Wilma (Larry, Sr.) Troyer and Ruth Troyer, both of Apple Creek, OH, her grandchildren Karla Postlethwait,  Mrs. Ariel (Ben) Brodwolf, and Austin Pamer, three step-grandchildren Larry (Deb) Troyer, Jr., Chad Troyer, and Misty Troyer,  and four great-grandchildren Logan Postlethwait, Kylar Postlethwait, Christopher Brodwolf, and Amelia Brodwolf, a brother, Abe a. (Alma) Yoder Jr. of Walnut Creek, OH, and two sisters, Erma Zoon of Arcadia, FL and Mrs. Martha (Sam) Yoakam of Dover.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Dover First Christian Church, 3029 North Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio with Minister Josh Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dover Burial Park. Calling hours will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling service arrangements.
