Barbara Jane Simpson, 68 years old of Bolivar, Ohio; passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Horizons of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties Inc. Barbara came to live with Horizons on June 7, 1982, as well as attended our Day Hab Facility, Avenues of Adventure since July 1, 2005.
Barbara was well loved by her Horizons family for many years.
Barbara was born August 23, 1957, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Andrew and Marguerite (Ransome) Simpson. Barbara loved getting pampered, and having her hair and nails done. She also enjoyed singing and going to church. Barbara was a loving sister, she really enjoyed having company-
Barbara was part of a large family and will be missed by all of her family members. Preceding Barbara in death are eight siblings: Mona Rivera, Jimmy Simpson, Andy Simpson, Richard Simpson, Tony Simpson, Regina Simpson, Margo Simpson, and Freddie Simpson. Barbara is survived by Rebecca Simpson of Canton, OH, Connie Simpson of Canton, OH, Sharon Rodgers of Columbus OH, Kim Malone of South Carolina, and Tyrone Simpson of Millersburg, OH as well as a lot of nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Addy Funeral Home, in Newcomerstown, from 10:00am until 12:00pm, on Friday January 9, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Rodney Sutton officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in West Lawn Cemetery, in Newcomerstown.
