Gwen Rummell Reporting –

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio (BBBSECO) is encouraging people to become a mentor for National Mentoring Month.

BBBSECO is an organization that supports the development of children by providing them with a mentor.

Director of Development and Administration Monique Duke says the organization benefited almost 500 children in 2023.

“Stability for children is a huge thing. Having a constant presence and somebody who even just wants to listen to them and spend time with them makes a big difference in the development in the youth.”

Duke adds that there are about 57 children waiting to be matched, with 35 located in Tuscarawas County.

High school students and adults can become ‘bigs’ through the school based and community based programs, respectively.
