Gwen Rummell Reporting –
Buckeye Career Center students in manufacturing-related programs celebrated National Manufacturing Day by traveling to several manufacturing plants in Tuscarawas County.
BCC students in Welding, CAD/Development & Design, PLTW/Engineering, and Precision Machining visited TuscoMFG, The Timken Company, Allied Machine & Engineering, and Gradall Industries.
Director of Adult Education, Curriculum, & Instruction Frank Polen said the event allowed for students to witness real-world applications of their education.
“It was just a great opportunity to help kind of grow our own workforce, for our students to see all the advantages and the possibilities, because our manufacturing companies are just not local, there just not regional or state. [In] many cases, they are involved globally with the projects they’re in so it’s a great opportunity for our students to see.”
Throughout the day, students were able to engage with company leaders to receive insight into their career options.
National Manufacturing Day is an annual event on the first Friday of October. For 2023, the event fell on Friday, October 6th.
