Several Buckeye Career Center students brought back top honors at international and national career-tech competitions.
This is part of SkillsUSA as they work with students, educators, and business partners to create a globally competitive skilled workforce.
2023 Exercise Science alumna Erika Kugler, of New Philadelphia school, placed 4th in the Life Support Skills competition, for the second straight year. Austin Gump, from Dover, placed 7th in the Interviewing Skills competition.
Other BCC students who competed at nationals, held in Texas, were Kamree Lindon (Intro to Nursing/Indian Valley), Dawson Harvey (Intro to Nursing/ Newcomerstown), and Katelyn Brown (Exercise Science/Hiland).
Meanwhile, three additional students competed at the 2023 SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference, in Georgia. The team of Aaron Lane (PLTW/Indian Valley) and Jonathon McConnell (Precision Machining and PLTW/Newcomerstown) placed 12th in the nation in the Urban Search and Rescue competition, while Ryan Smith (Law Enforcement/Hiland) took 12th in the Criminal Justice competition.
