Benedek Rudolph Higl 89, of Bolivar, died Monday September 11, 2023, at Aultman Compassionate Care in Canton.  Born March 21, 1934, in Budapest, Hungry emigrating to the United States with his family after WWII. He was a son of the late Geza and Ilona Higl.

He retired in 1996 as a manufacturing supervisor, and also worked as a Real Estate Agent.  He was an active member of Holy Trinity Church and Knights of Columbus in Bolivar and was U.S. Army Paratrooper and MP Veteran. Ben was an avid horseman and hunter as well as an Airedale enthusiast.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (nee Mraz) whom he married February 23, 1957.  Also surviving are his 3 children Laureen (Edwin) Smith of Bethlehem Township, Pa., Suzanne (Eddie) Hensley of Parker, Colorado and Benedek (Kathleen) Higl of Bolivar; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a sister Agness (William) Morrow of Canal Fulton and a brother Gabor (Betsy) Higl of Parma.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bela High.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church in Bolivar with Fr. Keck as Celebrant.  Burial with military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at a future date.  Friends may call Monday, September 18, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar.  To share a memory, please visit the funeral home’s web site.
