Betty L. Burger – January 23, 2024

Betty L. Burger, 85, of Baltic, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Oak Pointe Nursing Home in Baltic following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Cadiz on April 22, 1938, to the late Clyde W. and Evelyn I. (McCoun) Toland and married James L. Burger on November 22, 1958. He survives.

Betty had worked at the former Alsco Co. in Sugarcrrek and for Baltic Allied Rubber.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, William J. (Nancy) Burger of New Philadelphia and Jonathon A. Burger of the home; 2 grandchildren; and her siblings, Ruby Ann Stress of Dundee, Eileen Syler of Atlanta, Georgia, Ann Levengood of Dover, Margaret (John) Mizer of West Lafayette, and Warren Toland of New Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Connie Toland of Baltic; and brother-in-law Dennis Ott of Ragersville.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, James Edward Burger; brother, Clyde Toland; sister, Martha Ott; 3 brothers-in-law, Bob Stress, Bob Syler, and Walter Levengood; and sister-in-law Dina Toland.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11 am at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Walter Litton officiating.

Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Baltic. Friends may call on Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
