Betty Louise Gleitsman – March 5, 2023

Betty Louise Gleitsman, 84, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully March 5, 2023, following a period of declining health.
Born in Midvale on December 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Thelma Marie (Garrett) Menefee. 

Betty was a 1956 graduate of Midvale High School. Professionally, she served at the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections for numerous years and was an active member of the Tuscarawas County Democratic Party. Betty was also employed as the New Philadelphia City Auditor, Village of Malvern clerk, and was the secretary for Malvern High School. Additionally, she was an avid bowler in Carrollton, Dover, and New Phila where she bowled several times a week. 

Betty will be deeply missed by her children, Sharon (Chris Brown) Bell of Parma, Cheryl Blunt of New Philadelphia, James Bell of New Philadelphia, and Shelly (Dave) Affolter of Chagrin Falls; grandchildren, Sean, Dana, John Robert, Jasmine, Joyce, Janesa, Jezarae, Jeb, Alex, Dakota, Autumn, Taylor and Tess; great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; her sister, Janet Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Rodney “Butch”; siblings, Donald, Dale, Richard Sr., Robert Jr., and Raymond “Mike” Menefee; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. A service will be held Thursday in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 am with burial to follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
