Beulah Mae Fulp Searcy departed this life to arrive in eternity where she heard those words, we all want to hear, “well done thy good and faithful servant”. Beulah Mae Fulp Searcy was born September 28, 1946, in Dennison, Ohio to the late Benjamin and Anna Fulp. Beulah graduated from Midvale High School in 1964. Beulah was very athletic with her favorite sport being Track and Field she was undefeated for 4 years only to be beaten once by a tenth of a second, when she was told to adjust her blocks by her older brother. She qualified for the 64 Olympic pre-trials but was in a car accident prior to the trials start date. Beulah had the chance to meet two giants in Track and Field Jesse Owens and Wilma Rudolph and they would be two of her favorites throughout her lifetime. She loved sports and was a fan of any team from Ohio. Her beloved Cleveland Browns, OSU Buckeye’s, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, win or lose she was cheering in between naps she was a dedicated fan. Beulah worked for Miller Studios for many years. She lived briefly in Winston-Salem, NC where she worked for the RJ Reynolds Company. She also marched with the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr while living in Winston-Salem, NC.
The job she was most passionate about and filled her life was working at the Tuscarawas County Multi-Juvenile Division, where she mentored young girls and became a surrogate Granny or Ms. Beulah Mae to many of them. She worked there for 14 years until she was forced to retire due to her health. Beulah was a lifelong member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Dennison, OH. She loved her church and church family and was an active member until her health no longer allowed her to attend. She was part of the choir, Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee, and served as church treasurer for many years.
Beulah is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin, Anna and bonus mother Thelma Fulp; sister, McKever Mitchell, brothers– Lornis Fulp, Stanley and Glen Carter, brother in-law Hanes Hairston, sister in-laws Paula Carter, Mae Fulp, and Henrietta Carter, and close cousin Brenda Smith as well as both her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her two sisters Georgia Hairston of Midvale, OH, Connie (Arthur) Johnson of Buford, GA., and brother John (Brenda) Carter of Buford, GA.; a close friend Betty Washington of Uhrichsville, OH. Her three children Carmen (Bobby) Sharpe of Decatur, GA, Richard (Janet) Searcy Jr. of Uhrichsville, OH, and Kendra Searcy of Loganville, GA. Beulah was Granny to so many she has 21 grandchildren of which she had her “fab five” as she called them, LaToya Lyles, Maegan Searcy, Andrea Clemons, Andre Clemons II, and Benjamin Ray. She loved and adored all her 21 grandchildren, but her fab five held a special place in her heart. She had 39 great-grandchildren who she loved and adored, with Charles (CJ) Watters being her oldest and her baby. Beulah raised several of her grandchildren and nephews who all held a special place in her heart. If you needed somewhere to stay, something to eat, an ear to listen, or to borrow money she was available, never turning anyone away. Her family often joked that her home was an open shelter for anyone she met!
Beulah Mae will forever be missed by her family and friends. She was an amazing and beloved mother, sister, cousin, auntie, Granny, and friend. If you ever met her and knew her you knew you were loved, welcomed, and she was praying for you.
She was affectionately known as “Granny”, to so many young people and their children in the county of all backgrounds, and that is how she wanted it. She loved being Granny and smiled when the kids greeted her.

Funeral services for Beulah will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dennison, with Pastor Herman Fulp and Rev. Max Millender officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 12:30 (one and half hours prior to services) on Saturday at the church.
