Mary Alice Reporting –

A Saturday fire resulted in no injures but is a complete loss.

Units responded to the home on State Route 800 at 2:30pm and remained on scene for several hours looking for any hotspots.

Dover Fire Captain Books Ross says those home at the time were able to escape uninjured.

“When we got here the entire first floor from the front was on fire, and fire had extended up to the second floor in the rear. There was too much fire for us to safely go inside so we just surrounded the fire. The only thing that hadn’t burned at the time, and luckily still hasn’t, was the attached garage.”

A cause was unknown at the time. Two dogs were unharmed, but Ross noted that family lost a turtle and some fish.

Meanwhile, during that Saturday call, crews were dispatched, at roughly 3:30pm, to another report of smoke at the Quality Inn.

Crews responded and hotel staff noted that there was no damage and that the smoke was coming from a washer and dryer unit.
