Mary Alice Reporting –

Work will be ongoing over the next few months for a bleacher rehabilitation in New Philadelphia.

Structure integrity concerns where discovered for seats at Woody Hays Quaker Stadium and drawings are hopeful to be approved by May 6th.

City Service Director Ron McAbier says fabrication drawings will then be sent through the general contractor Dover Tank and Plate, with the subcontractor being Benchmark Construction.

“From then, you got to wait for about five weeks for delivery of structural steel pending June 10th, then that’s when really when the work starts. Right now you see some pre-work and that type of thing right now.”

The work is on the park side and during construction hours, the access road will likely be closed.

The completion date is anticipated by August 5th, right before the first game.
