Blood donation drives are planned at several local locations throughout June.
Vitalant is hosting events during Trauma Season, which is the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day, says Communications Manager Maya Santana.
“It’s a time when emergency room visits typically spike due to increased travel, outdoor activities, and accidents, and at the same time blood donations tend to drop off significantly.”
Santana points out that every 2 seconds someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion.
“And blood donations are essential for patients facing trauma injuries, undergoing routine surgeries, managing chronic illnesses, or even receiving cancer treatment so one donation can help save multiple lives.”

– Dover: Thursday, June 19 in the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital – Rosenberry Conference Room from 3:45 PM – 7 PM.
– Freeport: Friday, June 27 at Lakeland Academy from 3:15 PM – 7 PM
