Following four and a half years on the Tuscarawas Valley School District’s Board of Education, Kathryn Johnson stepped down and applicants are being sought.
The BOE accepted the resignation at their most recent meeting, with President Dick Gooding commending Johnson for her contributions.
“We have appreciated you very much. You have brought some wonderful talents to the board and we’re going to miss you, and thank you for your service.”
Johnson said the reason for her departure relates to wanting more time with her family.
“It is certainly with mixed emotions. I have enjoyed this pleasant surprise that I didn’t necessarily see as part of my life but have enjoyed so much, and had so much pride to do this work and be part of this district and be part of this board with all of you.”
The district is now accepting applications for the unexpired Board of Education terms, which will become vacant on January 14, 2025, and the board will have 30 days to fill the seat. The new member would serve until December 31, 2025. The position will be open on the 2025 November general election.
