Officials are working to determine a cause and origin of a fire that broke out Friday that claimed the life of one person and a canine.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office releases that the 911 center received a call around 11:40am about the motor home being on fire on Von Kaenel Drive in Dover Township.

Responding Fire Departments included Dover, New Philadelphia, Strasburg, Bolivar, Mineral City, and Sugarcreek, along with Smith Ambulance. They were told by neighbors that somebody was possibly living in the home.

During a search, the remains of one person and a dog were located inside.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office, the evidence technician, and members of the Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office are assisting in the investigation.

At this time there is no suspicion of foul play. An identity of the victim is not being released at this time by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
