Brian W. Ickes, age 60, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 5, 2024, in his home.
Born May 12, 1964, in Dover, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Jeanne (Kappeler) Ickes. Brian graduated from Dover High School in 1982, and went on to serve honorably with the United States Marine Corps. Following his discharge, he became a union carpenter and tradesman and was currently employed by Downing Enterprises in Copley.
Brian loved thrifting and collecting and his tastes were wide in scope. He also enjoyed games of chance and traveling to Wheeling Island and Mountaineer Casinos in West Virginia.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Ickes of North Lawrence; his granddaughters, Brooke, Claire, Mia and Zoey; his sisters, Susan (Clyde) Penrod and Gretchen (Bob) Hobart; his brother, Tim Ickes; his nieces, Danielle and Stephanie; and his long-time friend, Tonya Kimbrough.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Alan Ickes.
Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Saturday, August 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. A graveside service will follow in Dover Burial Park; Pastor David Wing will officiate and military rites will be conducted. Following the service, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
