Gwen Rummell Reporting –

Buckeye Career Center Energy Operations students had the opportunity to hear from Encino Energy and visit the Stocker well pad.

Students were able to see a live example of horizontal drilling, one of three types used. An Encino career discussion and presentation follow the tour.

Bryce Taylor, a Junior Carrollton High School student in Energy Operations, said he learned a lot of useful information.

“I think it really helped by pinpointing certain information that you may not have had previously known and really hammering down how lucky you are to have things like this in Ohio and through Buckeye how we can get jobs more easily.”

Part of the presentation noted Encino’s many benefits.

“We do bonuses, we do tuition reimbursement, we have options for healthcare that is free to employees that is medical, dental, vision, we buy short-term [and] long-term policies for insurance, and then we have other barrage. There’s just a lot of opportunities that are very, very lucrative.”

BCC has an Energy Operations lab, which covers information regarding the oil and gas industry. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a school-to-work program, if applicable.
