Mary Alice Reporting –

For over three hours, units remained on scene for a Wednesday fire that claimed a large garage type building.

Departments were toned out at about 2:40am to 1515 Midvale Mine RD, which is home to TDT Septic and Excavating LLC.

Sherrodsville Volunteer Fire Department Captain Mike Booth says the building was already involved in flames when they arrived.

“It’s rural for everybody out here so it takes us a little bit more time to get here. It had been burning for a while before we got called. The roof had already collapsed in the center. We just surrounded it and [went into a] defensive attack. I think there’s a car in there and other than that I think it was mostly stuff that pertained to the business. A lot of their equipment and stuff was out on jobs and outside. Neighbor called it in. Building owner, business owner was here when we arrived on scene.”

No one was injured and the roughly 48 by 80 foot building is deemed a loss. The State Fire Marshal Office has been called to investigate a possible cause.

Assisting units included Dennison, New Philadelphia, Uhrichsville, and Tuscarawas.
