The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control is reminding businesses of alcohol safety practices.

It’s a year-round effort to conduct responsible alcohol sales says Deputy Superintendent and Director of Licensing Paul Kulwinski.

“On average we have about 28,000 issued permits at any time. That spans from those making alcoholic beverages, those distribution, and those selling them to consumers.”

Other entities can also adhere to state guidelines by obtaining a liquor permit.

“We also, on average, issue about 6 to 8,000 permits for temporary events, which would be for like your farmer’s market, fish fry, and other charitable causes.”

DOLC is highlighting the role it plays in regulating alcohol and promoting responsible consumption.

“Compliance agents in the field, about 28 to 30, who are going out doing onsite inspections making sure permit holders remain compliant.”

The DOLC also shares online resources for legal guidelines along with moderation. This is available at www.com.ohio.gov/liquor.

Additionally, a new liquor permitting system is expected to launch in June 2025, which will be an account-based system for applicants and permit holder to apply, transfer, and renew permits online.
